TV Is Overrated
If you’ve ever watched a televised online poker event, you’ll notice you see a lot of focus put on the big online poker hands. These hands usually include big cards, and today we’re going to talk about the illusion you can get from watching these big cards play on TV and how it can hurt your bank roll if you fall in love with them. AK suited, or any Ace with a paint card is usually given insane respect on the poker table. But a lot of the problems that newer players run into is that they don’t see the subtleties to paying it. They just see that the pros play it a lot and win with it. But that only makes for good TV and not good poker. AK is only strong if you get a good flop to go with it. If you get a dry flop them maybe your Ace is good. Or if you get the top pair with two lower cards, then that top card is probably good. But what about those flops that come out AQJh when you have AKd. Here you’re going to have to learn not to fall in love with your hand. This type of flop is definitely not an all in flop unless you know your opponent well enough to know he won’t be playing your for the flush. And that’s just one example. There are several instances and several other hands that people tend to fall in love with and just won’t let go of even if they know they’re beat. So the moral here is don’t be afraid to let it go every once in a while. Besides, you can’t be a truly good online poker player if you don’t fold the best hand sometimes.
