Laxton is a small rural village in N. Nottinghamsire, going back to the Norman Conquest.
Todays visitors can visit the the site of the old castle at the northern edge of the village, and see the regions best preserved motte and bailey castle.
One can also go to the beautiful, and attractive, church that goes back to early 12th century and is still in use today.
All the same, what makes the village truly special is its usage of the open field farming system.
This system is the only working open field system in England and one can walk the village yourself or take a tour with a guide, which we can arrange for you.

In the centre of the village is the Dovecote Inn where you will discover cracking value, locally sourced food and real ales, as well as amiable locals who’ll happily tell you a tale or two.
The Goat House is opposite the Dovecote Inn and goes back nearly 200 years.
