Global Mobile Broadband Connections Amount to a Hundred Million, Says GSMA
GSMA, the organization comprising of over 750 mobile operators from around the world and 200 other companies from mobile industry has released data revealing that the global count of mobile broadband connections has reached an amazing one hundred million.
The growth in mobile connections overall, which have reached four billion, is mostly thanks to the surge of new internet enabled mobile devices. These include netbooks, internet enabled handheld mobile devices, handsets etc. Mobile connections also include a USB dongle used with laptops to connect on the go, via the phone network. Some of these devices also boast of onboard connectivity and need no extra hardware.

Michael O’Hara, GSMA’s chief marketing officer is of the view that initiatives in the areas of Mobile Lifestyle, Mobile Broadband, and Mobile Planet will keep the mobile industry moving forward at a healthy pace in terms of both growth and technological development.
Another startling statistic that the GSMA has revealed is that the total number of mobile connections worldwide has touched four billion. With an increased availability of devices and the drop in tariffs, it has been predicted that the figure will reach six billion by the year 2013.
